California Workplace Posters & Forms

Bring scattered government resources into one searchable library, build an industry review list, and open official forms and posters directly.

Educational Reference Only. This tool generates a baseline of standard statewide posting obligations and links directly to official government portals. It is not an exhaustive legal checklist, nor does it guarantee compliance or capture every local municipal ordinance.

A practical starting point

When should you use these posters and forms?

Start with the people you employ and where they work. A wall poster, an employee handout, and a safety record serve different purposes. You do not need to print every item in the library.

Starting a business / hiring your first employee

Set up your workplace notices

  1. Identify your workplaces and wage order. Select the IWC wage order for the work performed; some businesses need more than one. Check state and city or county posting rules where employees actually work. DIR wage-order FAQ
  2. Set up a visible posting area. Review the California wage, payday, paid-sick-leave, civil-rights, and Cal/OSHA notices in this library. Obtain your employer-specific workers’ compensation notice from your insurance carrier. California required posters
  3. Choose notices based on coverage. EDD tells employers whether to post DE 1857A (UI, DI, and PFL), DE 1857D (UI only), or DE 1858 (DI and PFL only). Check which federal posters apply rather than printing them all. EDD notices · Federal poster advisor

New manager / HR lead

Keep the right information in reach

  1. Walk the worksite. Confirm employees can see the notices and the posted wage order. For a new location or remote team, verify the applicable agency’s delivery rules; do not assume an email replaces every physical posting.
  2. Know when to give a document directly. At hiring, leave, or separation, review the EDD pamphlets and other employee notices that apply. The annual California Know Your Rights notice is delivered to employees, not substituted for a wall poster.
  3. Review when things change. Recheck posters when their content changes, a location opens, work or coverage changes, or a local ordinance is updated. Posters do not replace employee training, written safety programs, or legal review. DIR update guidance

Which type of resource is this?

Display at work

Post the applicable IWC wage order and state notices where employees can readily see them. Examples include the Payday Notice, Paid Sick Days poster, CRD posters, and Cal/OSHA safety poster. Check the DIR FAQ before assuming a separate minimum-wage notice is needed in addition to your wage order.

Display if covered

Select the EDD employee-benefits poster that matches your programs. Check whether the CFRA and pregnancy-leave notice and federal FLSA, FMLA, or EPPA posters apply. Coverage, workforce size, and the work performed can change the answer.

Give to an employee

Do not treat every PDF as a poster. California’s Know Your Rights notice is an annual employee notice beginning in 2026. Review EDD’s benefit pamphlets for hiring, leave, and separation situations; handing out a pamphlet is different from displaying the EDD workplace notice.

Keep as a program or record

The IIPP guide, workplace-violence resources, and heat-illness resources help you review written programs and procedures—not decorate a bulletin board. Injury-recordkeeping forms have separate rules; check whether your workplace must keep them and post an annual summary.

Before printing: Check the current version, available languages, industry and location rules, and employer-size thresholds at the agency source. This guide helps you decide what to review; it does not certify that your business has every required notice.

Safety and health are heavily regulated. Familiarize yourself with the core pillars of California workplace safety, mandatory recordkeeping, and serious incident reporting protocols.

Required Programs

Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)

Every California employer must establish, implement, and maintain a written, effective IIPP.

Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP)

SB 553 requires nearly all employers to implement a written WVPP, log incidents, and conduct annual training.

WVPP Official Resources

Heat Illness Prevention

Stringent requirements for outdoor places of employment regarding water access, shade, rest breaks, and procedures.

Heat Illness Information

Training & Documentation

Employers must provide effective training on the IIPP, WVPP, heat illness prevention, and hazard-specific topics when those requirements apply to the workplace.

  • Maintain training records.
  • Ensure employees have direct access to written plans.
  • Offer safety training in a language employees understand.

Recordkeeping Forms

OSHA Logs 300, 301, 300A

Covered employers with >10 employees (unless exempt) must record work-related fatalities, injuries, and illnesses. Form 300A must be posted annually from Feb 1 to Apr 30.

Reporting Contacts

Serious Injury or Death Reporting
